A weekly meeting and a standing promise
A Kiwanis club is a regular meeting and a standing promise to the children of the parish.
The Kiwanis Club of Montego Bay serves the city and the parish of St. James as part of the Eastern Canada and the Caribbean District of Kiwanis International. Between meetings we run service projects across the parish, with children always first.
Kiwanis International was founded in Detroit in 1915 and today serves communities in more than 80 countries under one motto: Serving the children of the world. The Kiwanis Club of Montego Bay — Jamaica's second oldest Kiwanis club — was chartered in 1966, and in September 2026 marked its Diamond Anniversary — threescore years of service — under the theme Threescore and Serving More.
Kiwanis puts its future where its mission is: in schools. Through the Service Leadership Programmes — K-Kids in primary schools, Builders Clubs, Key Clubs in high schools and Circle K on campus — young people learn service and leadership early rather than discovering them late.

The Objects of Kiwanis International
Of the things we think, say or do
- 1 To give primacy to the human and spiritual, rather than to the material values of life
- 2 To encourage the daily living of the Golden Rule in all human relationships
- 3 To promote the adoption and the application of higher social, business and professional standards
- 4 To develop, by precept and example, a more intelligent, aggressive and serviceable citizenship
- 5 To provide, through Kiwanis clubs, a practical means to form enduring friendships, to render altruistic service, and to build better communities
- 6 To cooperate in creating and maintaining that sound public opinion and high idealism which make possible the increase of righteousness, justice, patriotism and good will

The secondary motto, from the earliest days of Kiwanis. Service and enterprise were never meant to be opposites.
